Ghana is officially named the Republic of Ghana and is a constitutional democracy. Ghana means “warrior king.” The country is located along the Gulf of Guinea and Atlantic Ocean, in the sub region of West Africa. Its diverse geography and ecology ranges from coastal savannahs to tropical jungles. Ghana is one of the world's largest gold and diamond producers, and is projected to be the largest producer of cocoa in the world as of 2015. In the past, Ghana use to be a hub for slave trade and many of the slave trade castles still exist along the coast. In science and technology, Ghana excels at satellite programs, cybernetics, cyber warfare, and biotechnology. Yet, the country does not have access to high speed internet, which lies right at its coast. The people of Ghana are known for their smiling faces, loud laughter, and friendliness. Their culture centers around language, food and dance. The most popular sport is football. Many Ghanaian dishes have a spicy pepper taste and are served with meat and a starch. Also, in culture, Ghana is known for its elaborate kente cloth. The cloth is hand woven on narrow looms and sown together into elaborate attire.
